Soft Shell Crab Add-on Entrée
Elevate your meal with this surf-and-turf-inspired dish, featuring crispy fried soft shell crabs paired with a steak and vegetable. The soft shell crab adds a delightful seafood twist to your entrée, complementing the richness of the steak and the freshness of the vegetable.

-
Thaw the soft shell crabs and pat them dry with a paper towel.
-
Prepare the steak and vegetable as desired.
-
Combine the flour, cold water, and egg in a small bowl, whisking until the batter is smooth. Do not over-mix; add one tablespoon of water at a time to achieve a batter that clings loosely to the crab.
-
Dredge each soft shell crab in flour, shaking off the excess.
-
Dip the floured crab into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
-
Heat oil in a deep fryer or shallow sauté pan to 350°F.
-
Carefully place the battered crab into the hot oil and cook until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3–5 minutes, depending on the size of the crab.
-
Remove the crab from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towel-lined tray for one minute to drain excess oil.
