A rich and creamy chowder loaded with sweet corn, savory Handy Claw Crab Meat, and classic OLD BAY® flavor.
- 16oz Handy Claw Crab Meat
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup onion, diced
- 1½ cups chicken stock
- 2½ cups milk or cream
- 2½ cups corn kernels (fresh, frozen, or canned)
- 1 tsp. fresh chives, chopped
- 2 slices bacon, cooked and chopped (optional)
- 2 tsp. OLD BAY® Seasoning
Dice the onion and chop the fresh chives. If using bacon, cook until crisp and roughly chop. Drain the Handy Claw Crab Meat of any excess liquid and gently check for shells.
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter and add the diced onion. Cook for 4–5 minutes, or until translucent.
- Add the flour and stir to coat the onions. Cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add the chicken stock and milk or cream, stirring until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally as the chowder begins to thicken.
- Add the corn and simmer for another 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and gently fold in the Handy Claw Crab Meat. Cook for 1–2 minutes, or until the crab is heated through.
- Season with OLD BAY® Seasoning and remove from heat. Portion into bowls and garnish with fresh chives and chopped bacon, if using. Serve immediately.
